A speeding Tesla driver was arrested after crashing into a power pole in Abbotsford, according to authorities. Officers spotted the vehicle “travelling at dangerously high speeds” just after midnight Friday but “briefly lost sight” of the car when it rounded a corner, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a social media post. Moments later, police came upon the crash scene. “The 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving and is now facing a court date. Two passengers were detained but later released. Fortunately, no injuries were reported,” the social media post said, adding it was lucky no one was injured. The crash knocked out power to hundreds in the area overnight and prompted a lengthy road closure, police added. A conviction for the Criminal Code offence of dangerous driving can result in fines or jail time, depending on the circumstances of the case.
