Suspect in Super Bowl sex ring arrested at Vancouver airport

CTV Vancouver: Super Bowl sex ring suspect arrest A suspect in a drug and prostitution ring targeting the Super Bowl weekend has been arrested at YVR.

A 44-year-old woman accused of helping deliver cocaine and prostitutes in New York City before the Super Bowl has been arrested at Vancouver International Airport.

Kyongbin “Jackie” Cho of South Korea was detained by Canada Border Services agents at YVR on Saturday, nine days after U.S. authorities busted a crime ring set up to supply “party packs” of drugs and sex workers to high-end clients.

Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board ruled Cho is a flight risk and inadmissible to the country. She is expected to be deported Wednesday.

U.S. authorities arrested 11 of 18 suspects before Super Bowl weekend in operation “Out of Bounds.” The other seven fled, including Cho, who allegedly entered Mexico illegally in the back of a car before flying to Vancouver en route to South Korea.

At her refugee board hearing, Cho said she was recruited as an escort in Korea before arriving in New York in 2008. She said she’d been made mid-manager in charge of five Korean escorts in what is believed to be a multi-million dollar operation.

According to the Servants Anonymous Society in Surrey, it’s easy for foreign women to get caught up in prostitution, and very difficult to get out.

“Internationally, women are recruited based on threat to family, threat to their children,” SAS executive director Mary Pichette said.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman called the busted crime ring a sophisticated operation that served clientele as far away as Texas.

“The criminal organization that we’ve taken down today was selling sex and drugs as a packaged deal. The ring advertised extensively on the Internet and public access television,” Schneiderman said following the arrests.

Authorities allege the ring would add extra charges to some clients’ credit cards while they were impaired, in one case billing more than $10,000 for a single night.
