Rock and mud slide shuts part of the Stanley Park seawall in Vancouver

VANCOUVER — A large stretch of the Stanley Park seawall has been closed because of a slide.

A statement posted by the City of Vancouver says the recent significant rainfall prompted the slide of mud, rocks and vegetation.

It says the slide is blocking access between Prospect Point and Siwash Rock on the Burrard Inlet side of the park.

Another section of the seawall is also closed from third beach, south along English Bay.

The statement says detours are in place throughout the park.

The 10-kilometre loop around the park is normally open with separate lanes for walkers, runners and cyclists.
