CTV News reporter Penny Daflos

Penny Daflos has been a reporter for CTV News British Columbia since 2011.

Penny’s began her broadcast career in 2007 as an early morning weekend radio news anchor for Rogers radio in the Fraser Valley. The next year, she got a job reporting for CKNW radio, where she covered everything from breaking news to elections to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. She was also part of CKNW’s RTNDA award-winning team coverage of the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot.

While working part-time at CKNW, Penny started learning the ropes of television news at CTV British Columbia. She’s worked as a field producer, writer, assignment desk editor, teleprompter operator, show producer and guest tech host, but her true passion lies in TV news reporting.

In addition to every one of CTV B.C.’s newscast, her stories have appeared on CTV News across Canada as well as CTV National News, CTV News Channel, BNN, Canada AM and CNN.com.

Penny joined CTV B.C. full time in April 2012.

In 2008, Penny graduated with Honours from BCIT’s Broadcast Journalism program, where she was awarded the Canadian Millennium Excellence Entrance Award. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (First Class) from UBC in 2002 where she majored in anthropology and minored in sociology.

Penny was born and raised in Maple Ridge and now lives in Vancouver with her lawyer husband. In her spare time, Penny loves catching up on all things technology, art and culture while cooking up a storm.
