Police officers in New Westminster are seeking witnesses, after an elderly woman was found injured near the intersection of 6th Street and 6th Avenue. New Westminster Police Department says on Sept. 8, just before 3 p.m., a New Westminster police officer was flagged down for a report of an injured person on the ground near the Royal City Centre. Officers found a woman in her late 70s, lying on the ground suffering from a leg injury. The woman was later transported to hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Investigators are trying to determine what led to the woman being injured, and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or assisted the senior, to come forward. “We know there may have been several people in the area who either witnessed what happened or stopped to help before first responders arrived,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver in a release Friday. “We are asking those individuals to contact police, as even small details may help us understand exactly what occurred.” Anyone with information is being asked to call NWPD at 604-525-5411
