Police in New Westminster are investigating after a woman was allegedly assaulted by a stranger in the Sapperton area last week. The victim reported she was walking in the area east of Sapperton Park around 9 p.m. on Sept. 3 when an unknown male approached her, grabbed her by the throat, and pushed her against the wall. “She was able to kick the suspect, who then fled eastbound from the area,” the New Westminster Police Department said in a statement Friday. B.C. Emergency Health Services attended the scene, but police say the victim was not taken to hospital. The suspect is described as a slim, white man with dark curly hair, standing about 5’3” and believed to be around 18 years old. At the time of the alleged attack, police say he was wearing a white Nike hoodie with black Adidas sweatpants. “We’re asking anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dash-cam or surveillance footage from the area to come forward and speak with investigators,” Sgt.
