North Vancouver RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in finding a missing Indigenous woman who, according to family, was last seen over a week ago. Steven Dent says his 58-year-old sister Virginia Diack has been missing for almost 10 days. “We have absolutely no clues as to where she could have gone, and we have no idea what the nature of this disappearance is,” he said. Diack is described as Indigenous, 5’4, with long, dark, straight hair. Security camera footage from a building on the 100 block of East Esplanade on Sept. 18 caught Diack leaving the building. CTV News spoke with the concierge of the building, who confirmed she seemed disoriented. “We’re not sure (if) she was having a sort of serious crisis, or whatever the case was. But of course, if that’s the case, then we’re even more concerned, about her being missing,” said Dent. The concierge said they had called Diack’s husband, but it was too late, as she had already left the area. Dent explained that his sister also uncharacteristically left her keys, wallet, and phone. “Then we became quite concerned, especially because we realized that at that point, there was no way to track her,” he said. Dent travelled from France to help locate his sister. He told CTV News that as the days went on, his concern grew. “We’re all really worried. I mean, borderline panic, I would say,” he said. Officials from North Vancouver RCMP said they have canvassed the neighborhood extensively but are now asking the public for help. “The public plays a huge role. They might have some very tiny information that could be the last piece of the puzzle in our efforts to locate Virginia,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak. Dent expressed that his strength stems from his sister. “We got to stay strong until she’s found,” he said.
