Police are investigating after a pair of roadside signs in Nanaimo were vandalized last month. The signs, which are “associated with a federal petition from the Iranian community,” are believed to have been spray painted black sometime between between 6 p.m. on March 18 and the same time the following day, Nanaimo RCMP said in a news release Thursday. Both signs were located on Island Highway North, one at Departure Bay Road and the other at Aulds Road, according to police. Mounties said the damage was reported to them on March 23. They shared two photos of the vandalism. “Investigators are asking anyone who may have observed suspicious activity in the area during the time periods noted, or who may have dash camera or security camera footage, to please contact police,” the release reads.
