Metro Vancouver transit operators and the Coast Mountain Bus Company are set to return to the bargaining table in a bid to resolve their ongoing labour dispute. A statement from Unifor says Locals 111 and 2200, representing bus drivers as well as SeaBus workers and other skilled tradespeople, will resume talks with the employer on Saturday. The move comes at the request of mediator Trevor Sones, who the union says reached out to both parties for a return to bargaining. Negotiations had begun in February but stalled, with workers taking job action such as a ban on wearing uniforms and refusing requests to give up break times when bus routes are running behind schedule. Union members had voted to authorize strike action in May with more than 99 per cent support.
