15-year-old found dead after fire in Langley, B.C.

A 15-year-old was found dead after a house fire Wednesday morning, according to authorities, who say the fatal fire was a 'heartbreaking tragedy.'

A 15-year-old died in a house fire in Langley, B.C., Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

First responders were called to the scene on the 6500 block of 248 Street just before 7 a.m., local Mounties said in a statement.

“Firefighters from the Township of Langley Fire Department arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames,” police said.

“Tragically, a 15-year-old youth was located deceased inside the home.”

Langley RCMP said an investigation into the cause of the fatal blaze is underway, but criminality is not suspected.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time,” spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said, in the statement.

Police told CTV News other people were in the home when the fire started and were able to escape. Information about the number of people who were in the home or their relationship to the teen was not provided.
