Former Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson wins seat for Liberals

Former mayor of Vancouver Gregor Robertson has been elected in the Vancouver Fraserview-South Burnaby riding.

The CTV News Decision Desk declared his victory at 9:45 p.m. with 47.6 per cent of the vote and 85 per cent of polls reporting. Robertson eked out a win against Conservative contender Avi Nayyar (39 per cent) and the NDP’s Manoj Bhangu (10.8 per cent).

When he announced his candidacy, Robertson said he was personally invited to run by Liberal Leader Mark Carney.

Robertson is now set to complete the trifecta of serving at all three levels of government. Starting in 2005, he was an MLA with the B.C. NDP for three years before serving as Vancouver mayor between 2008 and 2018.
