Police in Delta are investigating an alleged voyeurism case after reports a suspected recording device was being used in a staff washroom at a business in the city’s Tilbury area. In a news release Monday, authorities said the alleged incident occurred on June 23 at a business in the 6800 block of 72 Street. An employee of the business was arrested on July 7 and has since been released on conditions pending further investigation, police said. “Investigators are working closely with the business to secure evidence, identify anyone who may have been affected and ensure there is no ongoing risk,” reads a statement from the Delta Police Department. Police added that at this stage in the investigation, it appears to be an isolated event and said there’s no information to suggest a broader risk to the public. “These investigations are highly sensitive and involve significant privacy considerations. To protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those potentially affected, no further details are being released at this time,” the statement continues. The department is urging people to stay vigilant even in areas where “privacy is expected” and report any suspicious device or activity to authorities immediately.
