VANCOUVER — Police in Vancouver say they’ve made the largest single seizure of cocaine in the history of the force, totalling more than 328 kilograms. They say a local company called police on July 21 after its staff found 14 duffle bags of drugs hidden among boxes of T-shirts it had ordered. Sgt. Travis Fraser, with the department’s drug unit, says the business was “shocked by what it found” in the shipping container and called police right away. Police say the investigation has found the shipping container originated in Honduras, where it was loaded onto a vessel in May that made a stop in Jamaica the next month, before arriving in Montreal on July 5. Fraser says police believe the cocaine was supposed to be removed before it arrived at the company, but “for some reason, it was not unloaded.” Police say the ongoing investigation involves collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency as well as authorities in Honduras and Jamaica.
