A 55-year-old man pulled over for excessive speeding in B.C. recently was left standing on the road with his golf clubs after his vehicle was impounded. Police in Abbotsford clocked the driver doing 112 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, according to a social media statement from the department. “When the driver was pulled over, he was apologetic but told the officer he was late for his tee time,” the department said, adding that the driver ended up calling a ride share to get him to the course. The Abbotsford Police Department’s statement said officers have removed 218 excessive speeders from the city’s roads so far in 2026. Excessive speeding is defined as going 40 km/h or more over the posted limit. Fines range from $368 to $483, and vehicles can be impounded for seven days for a first offence and 30 days for a second offence within a two-year period.
