Granville SkyTrain station was briefly closed and evacuated Thursday afternoon while police investigated a potential threat, according to authorities. The Vancouver Police Department received a call “which involved threats of an explosive device” at the busy Expo Line station, a statement from Metro Vancouver Transit Police said, adding that the evacuation and closure were done out of an “abundance of caution.” Officers from both departments as well as explosive-sniffing dogs searched the station and surrounding area, but nothing suspicious was found. “We do not believe there is a current threat to public safety,” the statement from MVTP said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. TransLink posted online about the station’s closure and resulting bus detours in the area around 3:30 p.m. Just after 4 p.m., the transit provider said the station had reopened.
