Container ship, pleasure craft collide in Vancouver’s English Bay, TSB says

A team of federal investigators has been deployed to Vancouver after a collision between a cargo vessel and a recreational boat in Vancouver’s English Bay Sunday.

The crash happened around 11:20 a.m. and involved a container ship called the Ever Sigma, according to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

“The impact caused significant structural damage to the pleasure craft, which began to take on water. Emergency response teams co-ordinated dewatering and towing operations to stabilize the craft and move it to Eagle Harbour for haul-out,” a spokesperson for the TSB said in an email.

According to a statement posted to social media by the Port of Vancouver, there were no injuries and no impact on operations.
