A child died after being struck by a driver in the parking lot of an Abbotsford townhouse complex Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. Officers were called to the scene on the 32000 block of Simon Avenue around 12:45 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement. “Despite the immediate efforts of witnesses and first responders, the pedestrian, a child, succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” police said. “The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.” Police did not provide any details about the child, such as age or gender. The cause of the collision is under investigation with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
