A man was rescued from Okanagan Lake Friday after what local police described as “a marine incident.” West Kelowna RCMP officers responded to a report of “a small, overturned catamaran with one unaccounted for male operator,” the detachment said in a news release Saturday morning. The vessel was approximately 300 metres from shore near Greta Ranch in Peachland, Mounties said. A police boat was dispatched to the scene, along with Penticton Fire Rescue Services and B.C. Ambulance, according to the RCMP. Officers found the boater hanging onto his vessel, “exhausted,” but uninjured, police said. He was taken to shore by police and transferred to firefighters, who brought him to an awaiting ambulance for medical assessment. “West Kelowna RCMP would like to make the public aware that the overturned catamaran is still in the water, last seen off the shore near Greta Ranch in Peachland,” the detachment’s release concludes.
