Police say a 38-year-old man from Alberta was arrested in Vancouver’s West End on Friday afternoon in connection with a bank robbery. The Vancouver Police Department said officers were called to a bank robbery in progress on Robson Street, near Bute Street at around 3:30 p.m. “The suspect entered the bank, demanded cash from a teller, and fled on foot,” police said, in a release. “Within 10 minutes of the initial call, police located the man and took him into custody.” No one was injured during the robbery, but the VPD confirmed to CTV News that the man managed to get cash from the teller. Police didn’t specify which bank was robbed, but Google Maps places a Scotiabank branch on Robson Street near Bute Street, with no other banks near the intersection. The VPD didn’t name the suspect as he has yet to be charged, but police say he is in jail and facing robbery charges.
