An 82-year-old cyclist has died following a collision with a dump truck in Langford Monday afternoon, according to authorities. In a news release Tuesday, West Shore RCMP said the man was riding a bike near the intersection of Leigh Road and Mantle Heights just before 1 p.m., when he was struck by a Sterling dump truck. An officer patrolling the area was flagged down by several bystanders who had already begun providing first aid to the cyclist, Mounties said. B.C. Emergency Health Services also attended the scene, however, the cyclist died from his injuries. RCMP said the collision happened as the dump truck was making a right-hand turn, and have determined it was not criminal in nature. “West Shore RCMP extends its condolences to the cyclist’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Mounties said in the release.
