A senior was struck and killed by a driver while riding her bike in Chilliwack Saturday evening, according to authorities. First responders were called to the scene of the hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Woodbine Street around 6 p.m., the Chilliwack RCMP said in a statement. “An 80-year-old female cyclist suffered critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the statement said. “Investigative efforts led to the identification of a suspect vehicle, which has since been located and seized.” A man was arrested and has since been released, Mounties added. The investigation is ongoing, but police said impairment has been ruled out. Authorities are asking anyone with dash-cam or CCTV video that shows a burgundy or red Chevrolet Silverado four-door pickup in the area around the time of the crash to call 604-792-4611 and quote file number 2026-42122.
