Two people have been hospitalized in serious condition after a collision on Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam on Tuesday. B.C. Emergency Health Services said ambulances were called to the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Colony Farm Road at 11:27 a.m. “Two ambulances with primary care paramedics and an advanced care paramedic response unit attended the scene,” said BCEHS paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites. “Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to two patients who were transported to hospital in serious condition.” Coquitlam RCMP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, and Lougheed Highway remains closed between United Boulevard and Pitt River Road. “We are advising to avoid the area and seek alternate routes,” said Const. Ashleigh Daniels, in a statement to CTV News. Police said they will provide an update on the road closure and passengers’ status when more information is available.
