One person was taken to the hospital following a collision in Brampton that involved three vehicles, including a police cruiser, on Wednesday morning. The crash happened near Bramalea Road and Avondale Boulevard, north of Steeles Avenue East. Peel Regional Police say they were called to that area at 10 a.m. Investigators say a female was found with minor injuries and transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. They later told CTV News Toronto that no officers were injured in the incident. “The Special Investigations Unit has been notified; however, it has not yet determined whether the incident falls within its mandate,” a media officer said. The civilian agency, which is called in to investigate when police are involved in an incident that results in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person, tells CTV News Toronto that it has not been notified about this incident. Currently, the southbound lanes of Bramalea Road and Avondale Boulevard are closed to traffic due to the investigation. Police are asking motorists to use alternate routes.
