Special weather statement for Toronto as strong winds expected Friday

Expect a weather ‘roller coaster ride,’ with wind and rain giving way to warmer temperatures before a ‘big cool down.’ Bill Coulter has your seven-day forecast.

A special weather statement has been issued for Toronto, advising of strong winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h possible on Friday.

“Strong southwesterly winds will develop late Friday morning as a low pressure system pushes over northeastern Ontario,” the weather statement reads.

“Wind warnings may be needed for some areas as the event draws closer.”

Environment Canada said the winds are expected to die down by Friday evening.

Showers are also possible in the afternoon on Friday, which will see a high of 24 C.

A mix of sun and clouds is expected on Saturday and Sunday, with daytime highs of 20 C and 18 C on each day, respectively.

“Watch also for isolated showers both days, but they will be very localized,” CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said.

He noted that “brighter skies” will arrive for the start of the next work week.

“Temperatures should recover to seasonable and even above by mid next week,” Coulter added.

A chilly 18 C is in the forecast for Monday but Tuesday and Wednesday will see the temperature rise to 21 C and 23 C on each day, respectively.
