‘Short-lived’ warmup expected in Toronto as city sees ‘big swings’ in temperature this week

Toronto is in for some weather whiplash this week as the city sees “big swings” in temperatures, CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter says.

“The last full week of March continues with slow overall warming, but (with) big swings in day-to-day temperatures,” Coulter said Tuesday.

Environment Canada is calling for some sunshine and a high of 5 C today.

A near-identical forecast is expected for Toronto on Wednesday, the national weather agency said.

“Thursday will see a pop in temperature, rising to a high in the low teens. That warm up will be short-lived,” Coulter said, adding that rain is also expected in the afternoon.

Thursday’s high of 12 C will plummet to a high of just 1 C on Friday, about six degrees cooler than the average daytime high of this time of year.

The city will see a high of 3 C and 6 C on Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of some flurries earlier in the weekend.
