Downtown streets will be busy Sunday as the 109th Santa Claus Parade gets underway. The Argos will also be taking on the Ticats for the CFL’s East Division Championship. Those getting around the city should be aware of a number of rolling road closures that will be in effect. Police will begin towing vehicles parked along the parade route at 6 a.m. Parade route The first ever Holly Jolly 5K Fun Run will take place along the parade route at noon. The parade itself starts at 12:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 3 p.m. The route begins at Bloor Street West and Christie Street and then goes east along Bloor. The parade will turn south at Queen’s Park Crescent East and continue along University Avenue. It will turn east on Wellington Street West and then wrap up at Jarvis Street and Front Street East. Officials encouraging public transit Police say motorists travelling in the area can expect significant delays. Police are encouraging spectators to take public transit. - TTC service will be running on a regular Sunday schedule - Go Transit will be running service on all Go Train lines Nov. 17 for the parade.
