MLSE hosting watch party for Team Canada’s women’s gold medal Olympic hockey game

Canada’s women’s hockey team is going for gold at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) is hosting a watch party for fans in the city to cheer them on.

The Toronto sports organization announced Tuesday that it will show the Feb. 19 Canada vs. USA matchup at the Coca-Cola Coliseum at Exhibition Place. The game starts at 1:10 p.m. ET and gates to the event will open at noon.

“We know the special power sport has to bring people together, and we are thrilled to create an opportunity to unite fans around a milestone that has captured the hearts and spirits of hockey fans nationwide,” said Terri Mattucci, MLSE’s vice-president of fan engagement, said in a statement.

Tickets to the watch party cost$15, with the proceeds going to the MLSE Foundation.

Fan-access pre-sale starts at noon and the public on-sale starts at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Team Canada punched its ticket to the final with a 2-1 win over Switzerland on Monday. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored both goals, and became the first woman to score 20 career goals in the women’s Olympic ice hockeytournament.

Canada is 5-2 in the finals with losses to the U.S. in 1998 and 2018.
