Parts of Toronto’s east end were blanketed in acrid smoke on Wednesday night after an antique shop caught fire. The three-alarm blaze erupted inside an antique shop in the Leaside neighbourhood, at 10 Canvarco Rd., which is near Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East. Toronto Fire Services said they were called to that area just after 7:40 p.m. Multiple units attended the scene and knocked down an “intense fire generating extreme smoke,” the service said. A command post was set up and firefighters remained on scene to check for hot spots. Paramedics said they did not transport any patients to the hospital.
