An outage affecting border inspection kiosks has resulted in longer than normal wait times at 11 international airports, including at Toronto Pearson. The Canada Border Services Agency said the system outage began around 3 p.m. “The outage is causing delays in traveller processing. We are still investigating the cause of the outage however there is no indication of a cyberattack,” a CBSA spokesperson said in an email to CTV News. As a result, CBSA officers are processing travellers manually, which is causing long lines at customs. “Safety and security standards will be upheld at all times, with border services officers working to verify travellers’ identities, receive their declarations, and conduct any additional screening warranted by each traveller’s individual circumstances,” CBSA said. The agency noted that kiosks at Toronto’s island airport are also affected, as are those in Hamilton, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal-Trudeau, Quebec City, and Halifax Toronto Pearson Airport confirmed that inspection kiosks at Terminals 1 and 3 are impacted. “Passengers may experience longer than normal wait times at customs as a result,” the airport said in a post on its website.
