Caribbean culture front and centre in Toronto’s Carnival Grand Parade

The 58th annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival took place in Toronto today, CTV's Rahim Ladha has more.

The sounds of steelpan, soca, calypso and dancehall echoed throughout the streets of Toronto’s waterfront on Saturday as revellers took part in the annual Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade.

Lake Shore Boulevard was filled with elaborate costumes, masqueraders, Caribbean cuisine and high-energy music.

Organizers said the parade was expected to draw millions of spectators and participants, including some coming from outside of Canada.

This year’s theme was “Take Me Home” and 10 Mas bands were in competition.
