BEIJING -- Canada's Pamela Ware nailed her final dive to win the bronze medal in the women's three-metre competition at the opening stop on the FINA World Series diving circuit.
Tingmao Shi led China to a 1-2 finish with 389.60 points and He Zi was second at 372.90. Ware, from Beloeil, Que., landed her final twisting dive to move from fourth to third with 335.25 points.
"That last dive has been in my list for eight years," said the 22-year-old Ware. "It's my best one and saved the day for me."
Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., appeared set to reach the podium but missed her final dive to finish fourth at 331.30.
However, Abel won silver in the mixed synchro with Francois Imbeau-Dulac of St-Lazare, Que. The discipline made its World Series debut at the competition.
"We surpassed expectations," said Imbeau-Dulac. "We had a good week of training and knew we could perform well here. Our synchronization was particularly strong."
Zi and Aisen Chen of China took the gold. Philippe Gagne of Montreal was eighth in the men's three-metre.
Competition wraps up on Sunday.
