I Tried Pantene’s Abundant & Strong 3-Step System To Combat My Seasonal Hair Shedding

Like many others, my hair goes through different cycles, and every time spring rolls around, it seems like my hair starts to shed more than usual. I know that it’s normal, and while my spring shed only lasts for a month or so, seeing the amount of hair left behind on my brush is a little concerning, especially since I don’t have thick hair to begin with.

Because of this, I decided to give Pantene’s Abundant & Strong 3-Step System a try. It promises combat shedding, and I wanted to see if it really delivers on its promise to strengthen hair at the root and reduce fallout. I’ve been using it for two months, and I’m pleased with the results.

My experience using Pantene Abundant & Strong 3-Step System

To start, the entire system costs less than $60, which was a big selling point for me. Since salon-level shampoos and treatments are in the same ballpark individually, it felt like I was getting a deal. In case you’re curious, you get 400 mL of shampoo, 237 mL of conditioner, and 60 mL of serum. The two in-shower products are pretty comparable in size to other drugstore haircare options, but the serum was bigger than I expected.

Now, let’s talk through each product in the set.

I really enjoy the consistency and scent of the shampoo. It’s a little thicker, so it’s easy to lather and distribute all over my scalp without having to go in for more. I also love that it has a pump, which makes it easy to dispense with wet hands. The scent is fresh, clean, and subtle, and the formula rinses out easily, leaving my scalp and hair feeling squeaky clean.

While the Pantene Abundant & Strong Conditioner does its job, I’m not as big a fan. First off, the bottle is a squeeze tube, and the lid is hard to open in the shower, so I usually have to reach outside for a towel to dry my hands before I can use it. And when it comes to formula, it’s a bit too heavy for my hair type (fine). The melting pearls also add texture to the consistency, which I don’t love. In the pros column? It has the same fragrance as the rest of the collection, which I do enjoy. After rinsing, my ends felt a little slimy, but once my hair was dry, my strands were silky and smooth. For my experiment, I used it every time I washed my hair, but it’s not a product I would reach for otherwise.

The last step is the Abundant & Strong Scalp Serum. I applied the recommended amount of one dropper’s worth after every shower. Since it contains menthol, there’s a very slight tingling sensation, which is really refreshing. Something that really surprised me about this product is that it didn’t make my roots look greasy, even after a day, which is a problem I’ve had happen with serums in the past. I’m a fan.

My verdict: Is the Pantene Abundant & Strong 3-Step System worth it for combatting hair shedding and increasing density?

After using Pantene’s Abundant & Strong 3-Step System for two months, I can confidently say it delivers on most of its promises. I have definitely seen a difference in fallout, and my mane feels like it’s shedding out at a normal rate again, which is a relief. While I don’t see a super noticeable difference in density, my hair does look really healthy and feels softer. I think the scalp serum is the hero product of this trio, and I will purchase it again once I run out.
