A Prince Albert man who was shot in the throat while trying to evict a tenant from his rental property last year has died. Jim Primeau had been in hospital since June 4, 2025, after suffering a spinal cord injury in the shooting. Primeau was 57 when he was shot. His sister, Peggy Epp, told CTV at the time that Primeau spent four days in a coma following the incident. Another sister, Barb Prince, said he could not lie flat because he struggled to breathe and had been communicating by writing on a whiteboard. A GoFundMe campaign was created shortly after the shooting to help the family cover additional costs related to his care. Police previously charged Preston Bird with aggravated assault, breaching a conditional sentence order and several firearms‑related offences. Police have not said whether those charges will be upgraded following Primeau’s death.
