Man charged with attempted murder in incident that led to officer-involved shooting

A man shot by police during search of a home last month is now facing charges.

A 25-year-old man shot by police during the search of a home last month is facing an attempted murder charge.

In a press release Friday, the Saskatoon Police Service said members of the tactical support unit were executing a warrant at a home in the 1500 block of Rayner Avenue on Dec. 19.

During the incident, a man police are calling a suspect was shot by a police officer.

Jan. 21, investigators charged the man with attempted murder and making death threats.

He was taken to hospital after being shot, where he remains in stable condition.

Within criteria set out in The Police Act, 1990, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the officer-involved shooting.

A final report will be issued to the public within 90 days of the investigation ending.
