Death in Snowden results in second-degree murder charge

Saskatchewan RCMP have charged a 68-year-old man with second-degree murder following an investigation into a death in Snowden.

Nipawin RCMP were called to a wellness check on Nov. 5 to Snowden, which is 55 kilometres northwest of Nipawin.

They arrived to find a woman dead at the scene. She was later identified as 69-year-old Diane Searcy of Snowden.

The death was considered suspicious, and 68-year-old Kevin Searcy was arrested.

The two were known to each other and in a relationship.

Searcy was scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday in Melfort. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate.
