Work on Albert Street overpass over Ring Road to restart this month

Saskatchewan is investing over $46 million into rural road, bridge, and culvert projects, aiming to improve access for agricultural goods

Work on the Albert Street North overpass over Ring Road will pick up later this month, marking the second year of construction on the project.

The Albert Street North Overpass Upgrade Project is a two-year project which began in March of 2025, with the goal of supporting a vital commuter and trucking route, according to the City of Regina.

As part of the project, the Albert Street North overpass will be replaced and upgraded while reusing much of the existing foundation. The southbound overpass was replaced in 2025, and the northbound overpass will be replaced in 2026.

Both overpasses will be raised to reduce potential damage from over-height hits, and barriers will be upgraded to meet modern safety standards.

The expected completion of the project in October of 2026 will represent a $17.6 million infrastructure investment, according to the City of Regina.

During the first year of the project, traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the 2025 construction season, with the northwest loop ramp also closed.

Detours and signage were in place to give drivers an alternative route.

Work is slated to begin again on March 23.
