A 35-year-old man who was shot and injured by police following a domestic service call involving a crossbow is facing charges. The incident took place in the early hours of July 7, when officers were called to the 800 block of Elphinstone Street for a report of a man firing a crossbow and threatening occupants inside the home. Regina Police Service says an altercation broke out between the man and police. Two officers ended up shooting their guns, injuring the man. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Since the man was injured by police, a separate investigation was launched by the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, the provincial police watchdog. Through investigation, police determined the man had pointed the crossbow at the two officers who responded to the scene. An update from RPS on Thursday revealed the man is facing two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and one count of uttering threats. He’s scheduled to make his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on July 23.
