Plumes of smoke visible near Regina’s airport as firefighters train

WATCH: Smoke will be visible near the Regina International Airport throughout the day on Tuesday due to ongoing training exercises for firefighters.

Residents can expect to see smoke near Regina’s airport today, thanks to ongoing training exercises for firefighters.

According to a statement from the Regina Airport Authority, the YQR Firefighters Live-Fire Requalification is mandated through the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

The exercise is annually mandated and ensures crews are prepared to respond to any fire related emergency.

The training began at 7:30 a.m. and smoke will last throughout the day, the airport authority advised.
