Construction work on the upcoming joint-use elementary school in Harbour Landing is 70 per cent complete, according to the province. The school, which was recently named Meadowlark School on its public side after a round of consultation, is meant to alleviate capacity concerns at existing nearby schools like the joint-use St. Kateri and Harbour Landing schools as well as others that have been affected by boundary changes. The Catholic side of the school will be named St. Carlo Acutis. The joint-use building is located on the corner of Gordon Road and Campbell Street. “Working in collaboration with the city, school divisions and community, we are excited to see our joint vision of a brand-new school for the Harbour Landing neighbourhood become a reality,” Education Minister Everett Hindley said Wednesday. “This school will provide a safe, modern and supportive learning environment, which will help ensure all students are set up for success.” Meadowlark is expected to accommodate up to 500 Regina Public Schools students and up to 350 Regina Catholic Schools students in addition to providing 90 new child-care spaces. “Reaching 70 per cent on construction is an important milestone for this growing Regina neighbourhood,” said SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson. The province says it’s invested approximately $2.9 billion since 2008 towards 78 new schools, 32 major renovations and 17 minor renovations.
