New CEO appointed to Regina Food Bank following John Bailey’s departure

The Regina Food Bank has appointed a new CEO, following John Bailey’s departure in March.

An update from the Regina Food Bank Board of Directors on Wednesday announced Mary Weimer as the new CEO, effective July 13, 2026.

Weimer brings almost three decades of executive leadership experience across entrepreneurship, financial services, and retail to the role, according to the food bank.

In addition to having held senior roles at Conexus Credit Union and Harvard Developments, she also worked as Hillberg and Berk’s chief operating officer.

Weimer is also the co-owner of Assiniboia Gallery, an art gallery in Regina which her and her husband Jeremy have operated for over 26 years.

“Food security is foundational to individual wellbeing, to stability, and to the kind of community we want Regina to be,” she said in Wednesday’s update.

“I am energized by what I see this team make possible every single day for the people of Regina, and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Weimer currently serves as a director for Cowessess Ventures Ltd., and as a director for the Regina Public Library. She previously worked on the board for SaskArt, Globe Theatre, Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan, and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

In the food bank’s update, board chair Jacques DeCorby said they are thrilled to welcome Weimer as the next leader of the organization.

“Her record of building high-performing organizations, her commitment to this community, and her alignment with our values of dignity and service make her the right person to lead this organization into its next chapter,” he said.

John Bailey, who led the Regina Food Bank since April 2019, accepted the position of president and CEO at Economic Development Regina.

His departure was first announced in January of this year, which took effect in March.

Evelyn Cerda is currently the acting CEO of the Regina Food Bank.
