Man serving sentence for manslaughter still at large after escape in Prince Albert

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and various local police services are continuing to search for a prisoner who escaped custody late last month.

On Feb. 20, Keiston Custer managed to escape police custody while being transported by correctional officers from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert.

Custer, 30, is described as five foot 10 inches tall and 181 pounds. He has a medium complexion with brown eyes and black hair.

Custer was serving a 10-year sentence for manslaughter, use of a firearm, rioting, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Prince Albert RCMP.

According to CSC, the agency is conducting an internal investigation to “determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident, including all operational details leading up to and after his departure from the institution.”

However, until the review is complete – the correctional service declined to provide further details.
