Those living in the Oxbow and Alameda area have stepped up to support a family whose home was destroyed by a tornado earlier this week. The fundraising efforts aim to help the Brock family, whose home near Oxbow was destroyed by an EF3 tornado on Tuesday. “The small town support has come alive with all the support shown for them. I have companies as far as Yorkton wanting to reach out and help,” Kara Lynn Schiestel said in a statement to CTV News. “My phone has been ringing off the hook from supporters and the support from the communities has been unbelievable. It has restored the strength of the small town support.” RELATED STORIES: The online “waffle” fundraiser includes a draw for an outdoor heater and firepit with each entry being $50. All proceeds will go towards Danny and Chelsea Brock and their family, according to Schiestel. “The Brock family are very active community supporters. Whether its sporting events, community fundraisers, kids activities they can always be seen doing their part,” Schiestel stated. Another fundraiser is collecting gift cards to help the family. People are encouraged to drop the donations at Prairie Pride Credit Union in Alameda, Alameda Agencies and the Affinity Credit Union in Oxbow in addition to Exhale Massage Clinic and Dynamic Signs in Estevan. Additionally, a charity lamb and steer auction is planned in support of the Brock family. It will be held on Saturday, June 13 in Alameda. Bids will taken in person or on Direct Livestock Marketing Systems. In addition, the community of Carnduff is holding a fundraiser for the family on June 12. The Rural Municipality (RM) of Enniskillen announced Wednesday it was in contact with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP), Saskatchewan RCMP, the Canadian Red Cross in addition to Livestock Services of Saskatchewan for assistance following the storm. Residents who sustained damages during the storm or were missing livestock due to the severe weather were encouraged to contact the RM office.
