Some Regina residents on Dewdney Avenue in west Regina were forced to temporarily evacuate their homes Thursday afternoon while emergency responders examined a gas leak. At 12:50 p.m., crews from the Regina Fire and Protective Services (RFPS) and SaskEnergy arrived at a home on the 3700 block of Dewdney Ave. after receiving a call about a natural gas leak. As a precaution, several homes were evacuated while crews investigated. Traffic was also blocked off between Dewdney Ave. and McTavish St. at the time of the incident. The leak was immediately mitigated by SaskEnergy within half an hour of responders arriving on scene, RFPS told CTV News. Residents were allowed back into their homes around that time. The cause of the leak is being investigated by SaskEnergy.
