Former Regina Red Sox coach Scott Douglas has died, the team announced Wednesday. “Our condolences go out to his family and those closest,” the Red Sox said in a post to social media. Douglas coached the team for four seasons, in 2006-07 and in 2014-15. Douglas, who grew up in Moose Jaw, suited up for the Moose Jaw Astros (now Miller Express) in the early 1990s and later played with the Diamond Dogs - a professional team in Moose Jaw 1995 to 1997. “Scott was a proud member of the Moose Jaw baseball community and a familiar face at local diamonds for many years,” the Miller Express said in a post to social media. “[He] left a lasting impact on those who had the opportunity to play alongside him and watch him compete.” Douglas had more head coaching experience at the collegiate level with Trinidad State Junior College for 12 seasons and Colorado Christian University for one. He also served as a college assistant with Hardin-Simmons University, Northern Iowa and Northern Colorado. Further, he played, coached and managed at the independent professional level, including the inaugural season with the Regina Cyclones in 1994. Douglas is survived by his wife Keri and two sons, Kade and Seth. Scott Douglas was 57.
