FREDERICTON -- New Brunswick's Progressive Conservatives are seeking judicial recounts in six ridings from last week's provincial election.

Party president Jason Stephen says there are concerns over irregularities in how the vote results were released in some ridings, while in other cases the number of spoiled ballots exceeds the margin of victory.

In one riding, Glen Savoie of the Progressive Conservatives lost by eight votes.

The leader of the People's Alliance of New Brunswick has also applied for a judicial recount in the riding where he unsuccessfully ran for a seat.

Kris Austin lost to Progressive Conservative candidate Pam Lynch by 26 votes in Fredericton-Grand Lake.

If granted, the recounts would be held within four days, however no dates have been set.
