YARMOUTH, N.S. - A 90-day sentence has been handed to the owner of a pit bull that mauled a Nova Scotia woman so badly she needed 900 stitches to close her wounds.

The attack happened in March 2011 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Forty-one-year-old Gary Joseph Woods pleaded guilty to a single count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The bites to Noella McIntosh's face, neck and upper body left her fighting for her life.

The dog was shot dead by an RCMP officer.
