It’s the weekend, which means Matt Demers, A.K.A. Mr. Hollywood, is back with a whole new slate of movie reviews. Mr. Hollywood joined CTV’s Your Morning Ottawa on Friday to offer his thoughts on three new releases available to watch in theatres or on streaming. 72 Hours (Rated R) This new Kevin Hart-led comedy is available for streaming on Netflix, and Mr. Hollywood says its full of hijinks. “Basically, you got this 40-year-old guy who was he was added to this group chat by accident. He ends up going to one of their bachelor parties that lasts 72 hours, and a lot goes on here,” he said. “Just know it gets a little raunchy. Like they push the R rating.” The film stars some familiar faces from Saturday Night Live, including Marcello Hernández, Kam Patterson and Ben Marshall. “You definitely want to think maybe the Hangover mixed with Saturday Night Live because all those funny guys are in there,” Mr. Hollywood said. “72 Hours” was directed by Tim Story. Her Private Hell (Rated R) Mr. Hollywood says this futuristic science fiction thriller is a “fever dream.” “It’s strange. It’s weird, but I kind of liked it. Listen, it’s going to take a lot to kind of figure out exactly what is going on,” he said. “Its neon soaked. I like the style of it. A little complicated in its narrative, but again, a very interesting, different watch.” “Her Private Hell” stars Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton and Havana Rose Liu. It was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The Outer Threat (Not Rated) According to Mr. Hollywood, this Canadian sci-fi flick trades spectacle for understated family drama. “It’s about this family. They’re on the run. They’ve had this alien discovery. Who’s after them? Well, you’ll find out in this movie,” he said. “It was kind of endearing at times, so a little different than what you might be expecting when you say the word alien, but worth the watch.” The film stars Constance Wu, Mark O’Brien and William Fichtner.
