A 15-year-old eastern Ontario boy is facing charges for getting behind the wheel while impaired. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say officers stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 34 in Champlain Township shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Saturday. During an investigation, an approved screening device was used. After failing the test, the teenager was taken back to the OPP detachment for further screening. The driver, a resident of Champlain Township, is facing two charges of operation while impaired. The vehicle was impounded for seven days. His identity was not released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act. It’s unclear what kind of vehicle the teen was driving. Police did not provide more details. In Ontario, the minimum age to apply for a driver’s licence is 16. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal in October. The charges have not been proven in court.
