Eight poker players at a table at Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que. last Saturday each took home thousands of dollars in a “bad beat” jackpot. Loto-Québec says the winner of the bad beat lost the hand with four-of-a-kind in kings against four-of-a-kind in aces during a game on Feb. 28. The “loser” of the hand won $220,025, while the winner of the hand won $110,013. Six other people at the table each took home $18,335, Loto-Québec says, while 23 players in the room, and 55 players at other establishments each got $1,410 from the jackpot. Loto-Québec says to win the bad beat jackpot, a player must lose a poker hand with four 10s or a higher hand. Last April, 46 players at Casino du Lac-Leamy split a historic $2.5 million jackpot, with the holder of the bad beat hand taking home just over $1 million. It was the largest bad beat jackpot ever awarded at a Loto-Québec casino.
