Gatineau police say a suspect has been arrested after an incident that prompted a school to be briefly locked down. Police said they were called shortly before noon about an individual who was possibly armed and seen walking in the area of Labrosse and La Vérendrye boulevards, near Nicolas-Gatineau High School. The school was placed on a precautionary lockdown and police deployed officers, drones, and canine units to the scene. There was no active threat inside the school, and no one was reported hurt. Police said the safety of students and staff was never compromised. One person was investigated and was transported to the police station for questioning. A news release did not say whether the individual was, in fact, armed. The investigation remains ongoing. The lockdown ended at around 1:20 p.m. and regular activities resumed at the school.
